Visiting Kevin

Last Sunday we went to Torun. We wanted to to visit other thai breeders attending a cat show that day, but it wasn’t just for that. All afternoon (and as it turned out – aslo evening) we’ve spent with… Kevin and his new family. The kitten has grown up a bit since we saw him and we were curious how he has changed.

We remembered that feathers were one of his favourite toys so we got a proper gift for him. It turned out his choice of toys didn’t change. But his apetite was different than we’ve remembered when he was still in the cattery. Not having his siblings to race for food, he turned out not to eat so much and heatadly. His weight is well balanced despite the fact he is neutered, he didn’t get fat. But his preferences changed – while chicken was tasty in Bydgoszcz, it seems not to be so tasty in Toruń.

For our joy – Kevin recognised us straight away – he came to say hello, tried to get in my purse, let us hold him, cuddle a bit and showed that he never left his dreams of becoming a hairdresser 🙂 . He started playing with my hair as he used to and we were told that hair ties remain another of his favourite toys.

Kevin is pretty well in his new home not only because of number of toys he has or places to sleep. He gets along with all family members not regarding the age. He comes to everyone, plays with everyone, at night he changes places to take a nap with everyone. He spends time with little Natasza, patiently endures all her taunts and ways to play.
He also has his spots at home where he likes to stay – one of those is a cupboard in the kitchen. He has very good view to the rest of the apartment. When we were at the table he was observing us from up there.

Always when the kittens leave our cattery for their new homes and families, we fear that they will blame us for letting them go. Luckily Kevin showed us that he is not ungry with us, quite the oppostie. He fetched toys for us – mostly he took them and tried to hide in my bag – wanted us to play with him. He sat by us and tried to stay near most of the time while we were there.

There was a moment when he just climbed on our lap and decided to… sleep, just like that.

During his nap he got various poses and funny faces. He was stretching probably to show us how big and long he got. It was great to know he remembers us and we still have his trust. From what we’ve heard – he doesn’t come to anyone and lap naps are reserved only for his family members… and a bit for us it seems 🙂

Visiting Kevin was joy for us also for another reason. The same day, few hours before we came, one of Kevin’s family members – Adaś – was having a birthday party. But in opposite to most of kids, boy didn’t want his colleagues to buy presents for him. On his special day, Adaś asked his friends to bring… cat & dog food that he can donate for the pupils of local animal shelter. Thanks to support of his guests it turned out to be a certain amount that can help animals in need.
When we’ve heard about that we got proud of Adam and decided this definetely deserves mentioning on our page. We were happy that Kevin got to live with this kind of a family and have Adaś to be his best friend. Can there be any better home than the one where people care for animals and are willing to give up their own pleasures to help them?

We’d like to thank Kevin’s family for the invitation, possibility to visit him, get to know everyone and spend time in such a nice way.
