Whisper comes from cattery Amelia*PL and is our first thai breed cat.
Her parents are:
Whisper is a very intelligent and gentle queen. She quickly learned how to open doors, drink water from the tap, open her food container and walk on a leash. She perfectly understands what we say and usually listens to given orders (ex. ‘get down’, ‘stay’, ‘no’, ‘get back’). Easy plays bore her, that’s why her toy cannot be just thrown somewhere. It has to be a challange to get it – ex. from under the pillow, under the table. For her favourite feathers she can get on the highest wardrobe, right under the ceiling. As a thai cat she shows great intelligence while solving that kind of problems.
She is a very devoted companion. She comes to say hello when we get back. When we leave for longer she sits by the window looking for us to come home. She doesn’t leave our side even in the bathroom, where she waits patiently on the washing machine or drinking water from the tap. During the day, when noone is home, she sleeps with Hieronim – half meter tall plushy frog :). She doesn’t like to be left home alone, so she became a great travel companion. But even while traveling she likes to have company in her carrier or to lay on our laps.
Even at the seaside she overcame cats greatest fear of water, so she could stay with us on the beach. Longing for cuddles she comes on our lap, or is able to crawl under the covers when she doesn’t want to sleep alone at night.
Whisper is a very caring mother, she reacts to every sound her kittens make. Even sometimes we ‘get it’ when little ones are not in bed at a certain hour. Their mom reminds us it is time to sleep with her loud meowing.
In 2017 Whisper got 8 years old and because of that she got well deserved retirement. Before her birthday she passed control health check and got castrated. After that she still stays with us, as we couldn’t imagine habing it any other way. As an eldest cat at home, she sometimes helps with raising kittens of next generations. She still loves to sleep with us in bed, play with feathers and drink tap water. Despite her retirement as a breeding queen, she practicly didn’ change much and regarding her age, she is also quite active as she was before.
We do regular health check ups of all the cats in the cattery. It allows us to control their status and – in case of troubles – enables early diagnosis for ex. of age related diseases. On the beginning of 2019, at almost 10 years old, Whisper was diagnosed with gastrointestinal lympoma. It’s a slowly progressing neoplasm in cats. Thanks to early diagnosis, prognosis was good.
