CODY FANCY DIAMONDS*CZ

Cody is our first male in cattery Viosna*PL. He comes from Fancy Diamonds*CZ – cattery registered in FiFe. Cody was born and raised in a city named Sušice in Czech Republic. We brought him from there on our own (About our trip and first impressions you can read HERE). Finding a male who would meet meet our expectations took us over two years and as a result of our searches is Cody 🙂 Before he got to us, we went through his ancestry and confronted it with our girls. We wanted to avoid inbred as much as we can by that. We also asked for some feedback about his parents characters and Cody himself. He also had his test done to make sure he is free from FIV/FeLV (both results showed he’s free), as well as PRA (with negative result). We’d like to keep our cattery status free from above diseases. When all our doubts were dispelled, Cody has joined our family 🙂

Cody, called also Kodzik, became friends with Elmirka, Helen, Dziabąg and Whisper, who became one of his best comapanions. He reacted nicely on our bunnies, my parents cat and even while first contact with my parents dogs, we didn’t notice any problems (although we saw he tried to keep his distance 😉 ).

He’s got a well balanced character, he is brave and curious. At home he’s not afraid pf anything. He also does well on cat shows and is not discouraged by noise of crowd.

Cody is very smart boy and learns really fast – he fetches toys, already knows how to open his snack box and what is not allowed at home (but still sometimes doesn’t care). He can communicate in many ways and he’s a real talker. But he’s not oppressive with it. When he wants to play he brings his toys – feathers, mice, balls or anything else he wants to use. He particularly likes hair ties and even steals it from my basket (he knows exactly where I keep them). The ones with metal link are his favorite as it makes a sound when is thrown on the floor.

Cody is very emotional, he loves to cuddle, pet and purr. He even has a special shelve for it on the cat tree. At night he usually sleeps on my feet but then every morning he comes for head-butting. He can jump up to me to be carried which he loves, opposite to our other cats.

Towards the girls Cody is delicate and patient. Helen and Elma sometimes get irritated when he bothers them to play and let him know about it for example jostling with a paw. Cody then simply leaves and doesn’t get invloved in “pawicuffs” 😉

As a young dad, Cody is very tender with kittens and helps to take care of them. He stays on his watch by their bed when they are very little, checks on them every time they make a sound, helps to clean and groom them. As they grow up he takes care that they don’t wander to far away and if they do – he brings them back to mom. When Helen’s kittens were big enough to play, he even let them use his tail as a moving toy for their hunting attempts.

When it comes to look, Cody, as a thai male, has a nice round shaped head and chin line. Ears are proportional, well set and headed. There are little ear-tufts at the point of his ears – which I really like. His fur is short and so soft that you just want to pet him 😉 At the show judges appreciate his contrast. Important thing is also his long tail and proportional body. He has big, well set eyes and curious, smart look. Sometimes he lets Whisper to groom him, and as a result his whiskers are a bit shorter than should.

So far there is one more positive thing about Cody – despite so many cats at home (and also another – spayed – male) he doesn’t mark his territory. It was also our concern when we decided for breeding male in the cattery. Luckily Cody leaves his urine only in the litter box 🙂
