Report from World Cat Show in Warsaw – October 2015

Here is our report about World Cat Show in Warsaw.

On Saturday we had a surprise at the show. We registered Helen and Elma for the Show but when we tried to get in the boys from litter J we had a technical issue with online registration. Litter class is for kittens from 10 to 13 weeks old and the boys turned 13 weeks on 17th of October (which was the first day of the Show). We thought that Jey, Joker, Jordan and Julian will go for the Show only as a company for our girls. But it turned out otherwise. On Saturday Judge Kurt Vlach from Austia was able to evaluate our boys in litter class. He liked Julian the most.

Unfortunately we had also an unpleasant surprise as it turned out our camera needs fixing. That’s why our photos from the Show are as they are – from a smartphone camera.

All our cats managed pretty well with the Show atmosphere. Joker and Julian had no problem to play with the feathers. Only sometimes they have noticed that there is something going on around and someone is watching. Jey and Jordan sleep most of the time and all the noise and crowd didn’t bother them at all. They woke up only for food and judges evaluation. Jey even started a discussion with me about the show. But I didn’t really get what he thought about it.

Elmirka decided to book her sleeping booth for the show and she didn’t care about what was going on. But it changed when we gave her a new toy with catnip and valerian. Elma got crazy about it. She was rolling with the toy around her cage. Thanks to that waiting for her evaluation later on was less stressful.

On Saturday Elmirka was judged by Mrs Natalia Rozkova from Estonia. Elma had a competition in her class but I guess she was the one that judge liked most as it was Elma to receive note EX1. Thanks to that she got her final diploma needed for International Champion title.

Helenka like Elma decided to sleep most of the Show, but she also found some time to play with new feathers and to pose for photos. Judge Carl-Heinz Knelangen precisely checked Helen but he didn’t tell us much. I guess he must have liked her as he admited her EX1 in open class. Helen was at a cat show once before but she went in litter class along with her siblings. This was her first time as an adult to start to collect notes for her first Champion title, in single evaluation at the show.

Surprise with showing litter J to the judge wasn’t the only one that day. It turned out that all our cats got niminated for Best In Show. It was very pleasant thing that recompensed hard moments at the show – hard because we went ther despite my laryngitis and not feeling really well in general.

During BIS boys from litter J were compered with two other litters. Unfortunately they lost with just one vote. But the nomination was destinction itself. Especially that we didn’t expect that they will even be seen by a judge.

When we got back to the hotel from first day at the Show we were really tired But Elma wasn’t gonna go to sleep. She decided to play a little bit with her new smelly toy.

On Sunday boys from litter J didn’t go to the judges anymore. But Helen got to be seen by the same judge who saw our boys the day before. Judge Kurt Vlach from Austria accurately checked Helen and used her as an example for judge student to tell her about thai cat breed. After that Helen got her second note EX1 to receive Champion title.

Elmirka was seen by the judge from Germany, who checked Helen on Saturday. He really liked Elma. When he was explaining thai breed to his pupils he even stated that she has a “perfect profile”, proper tail lenght and very nice colour.

Judge Carl-Heinz Knelangen liked Elmirka so much that he even draw some hearts at the end of her evaluation note. What’s more he even awarded her with Best In Variety – for the best from seal point thai cats present at the show.

She also received nomination for Best In Show. While waiting for the final grading and during it she was a little bit stressed but she behaved nicely and remained calm.

Elmirka had another chance to se her dad – World Championa Giboulie White Elephant, commonly knowns as Żibus.

Boys from litter J and Helen had their moment of “fame”. While playing on their show cage they drawed attention of all guests passing and photography lovers. Helenka patiently posed for the photos.

Joker and Jordan had a chance to meet their future families for the first time. That was also a reason why we decided to take the kittens for the show. Jordan could play with his owners using his new feathers. He also had to show off and demonstrate that he can play fetch – which ment taking toy back to the cage at the show.

Joker not only had met his future ‘mom & dad’ but he also got a new blanket, so he can take some cattery smell to his new home when he’ll be leaving in November. (I need to add that the entire cat family slept on the blanket while we stayed at the hotel). Joker also received new collar and harness – now he will be able to learn to use it while he stays with us. Both of future cat families found it hard to say goodbye with their boys. We understand it very well as we feel the same when kittens leave our cattery for their new homes.

We got back from the Show really pleased and proud with our cats. They managed very well at the show and they received all the notes we were hoping for. (and even more with the nominations for Best In Show and Elma’s Best In Variety).

What we need to do now is to complete formalities to oficialy grand Elma title of International Champion and wait for another cat show.
