Regular health check in cat – why even bother writing about it?

Regular health check in cat – why even bother writing about it?

Last months have been very intense for use due to many reasons... to be able to write about it I will have to split my summary in few posts. I'll start with annual veterinary health check. But first I will explain why I even mention that. Test results will be presented in another post. Unfortunatley it is believed that cats are generally healthy and don't get sick. And if something is going on - it's owners/breeders fault. That's a myth - both about cats health as a cause of troubles. Many stereothypes comes…Read more

New members of the kitten-nursery-school

In March, on one of my shifts I was visited by one my regular customer - an older lady, Mrs Zosia. She came to the clinic before with her cats who were ones of the oldest cat patients and lived approximately around 20 years. Now she shares her home with two young male kittens. She also feeds stray cats on her backyard - one of them is a young female. During winter Mrs Zosia gave her a shelter in her basement where she was kept warm, well fed and safe from other cats…Read more
Review from International Cat Show in Toruń – February 2018

Review from International Cat Show in Toruń – February 2018

A month ago we went on International Cat Show in Toruń with Cody. We've had some concerns about it as we had kittens who were only 3 weeks old. We didn't want to bring any "unwanted surprise". But we also cared that Cody gets his first Champion title so kittens can have it in their pedigree. We promised ourselves to take any precaution to lower the risk to minimum. There is always veterinary control, rented cages are previously desinfected, judges and stewards desinfect also hands and tables between cats to decrease infection risk.…Read more

PRobably not so easy deliveRy

On Monday 15th of January I had to be at work as usual. Unfortunately there was no chance to change shifts with a friend. So I left for work to start at 3 p.m.. As soon as I reached work I got a call from Tomek that Elmas waters broke. The only thing I could do was to keep my fingers crossed so our previous experiences are enough so he can handle it on his own. So far Tomek had to take care of only one delivery by himself. It was with litter…Read more

Control tests for FIV and FeLV – 2017

Control tests for FIV and FeLV – 2017

Thai Cattery Viosna*PL from the very beginning is free from Feline Immunodeficency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV) - dangerous contagious diseases. All our breeding cats are also free from genetic disorder causing PRA - Progressive Retinal Atrophy that leads to blindness. As every year in September it is time for annual check up. As usual we did routine diagnostic tests for FIV and FeLV to all our cats. Even Whisper, who retired this year and is no longer a breeding queen was checked for those. Also Dziabąg had those tests done…Read more

World without…

Two weeks ago it was black Tuesday, at least for us. And as it later turned out - it was just a bad beginning. Monday evening didn't announce anything bad was going to happen. As usually cats got their supper, Marcel and Pola got a big carrot which they sniffed right after I put it in their cage. We went to sleep as Tuesday for me was suppose to start with classes at school, then shift in the clinic and homecoming around 9 p.m. to serve cat & bunny supper. We are not…Read more
Marcel and (not only) his teeth

Marcel and (not only) his teeth

Apart from cats, at our home, there are also two bunnies – Pola & Marcel. And today we write about them, or maybe most about the second one. Despite we have kittens from Helen now, he was in the centre of attention lately. So hold on, today it’s a long post about our „ears” ;) Marcel, is a kind of special care considering what he has been trough. In 2013 he got sick. The disease has a difficult name - encephalitozoonosis. It’s a disorder caused by protozoa called Encephalitozoon cuniculi. It is considered…Read more
N-ew kittens

N-ew kittens

A bit over a week ago, on Friday 24th of March 2017 we welcomed another litter of kittens from Helen in our cattery. According to my previous ultrasound examination, we were expecting three little babies and that's exactly what we've got in N-ew litter "N". Helen was a bit restless since Friday mornin, but labor started after 3 p.m. For some time we already had a place prepared for her - something she had chosen on her own. No matter how we organised baskets, booths or beds for her, this time Helen prefered…Read more
