Vaccinations at Thai Cattery Viosna *PL

Today kittens from litter I had their last vaccination before leaving for new homes. Another one will have to be done after a year from now.

We want to create the best conditions for all our cats. It not only means enough toys, beds, cat trees or full food bowl and lot of our time. We also try to make the best and non-stressful atmosphere during those less pleasant procedures that need to be done. Most of the breeders for e.x for vaccinations need to go to a veterinary clinic or ask a doctor to pay them a visit at home to avoid stress coming with a trip to the clinic. In our cattery (because I am a vet) all the vaccinations and devorming is done at home.

In Cattery Viosna*PL we do vaccinations in the morning when it’s time for breakfast and cats are a little hungry after night. We are able to distract them with food and keep them in one place. And if it’s their favourite chicken sachet they usually don’t even notice the injection. And if it happens that they feel something they are either to busy eating to stop or in the worst case – they will associate the injection with the taste of a chicken on their tongue. It’s easy for us – cuz cats stay in one place, there is no need to hold them, very easy to vaccinate and it is least stressfull for cats while they are busy with what they love – food. I also need to add that this is a great way for us as we don’t need to worry we are doing something the cats would not like.

This method, I use to call it “Diversion”, is also used by me at The Veterinary Clinic where I work. It works not only for vacciantions. Many times I managed to microchip our cats (and patients at the clinic) so they didn’t notice. And I have to say that microchip niddle is much bigger than the one used for vaccinations..
