Litters N & O in new homes

It’s been almost two months since our kittens from litters N and O left for new homes. It got a bit quiet, a bit empty but what’s good we don’t need to clean up so often J  I’m not saying we have more time for ourselves because our “Big five” still needs to be taken care of and we have a bit busy time at work. I’m also taking all the chances I get to take part in congresses, symposia and other lectures. Soon we will also leave for I think – well earned – holiday. Because of that I decided to catch up with one more thing.

All our tasks, duties and holidays doesn’t mean we’ve forgot about our latest kittens. The fact that I didn’t write about them sooner is not because I don’t know how they are doing. All the time we are in touch with their new families who are sending us photos and news. Today I finally got motivated to write about them.

Neo was the first to leave us for his new home in Warsaw with Ewa and Piotr. Now he also lives with a whole tank of fishes and a bunny girl. She doesn’t really mind a company of a cat and Neo – probably remembering Pola and Marcel he knew with us – follows here everywhere she goes.

Apart from following the bunny, Neo also goes for a walks on a leash and he manages travelling by car pretty well. Although he doesn’t like to sit in his carrier. He just doesn’t like to feel alone or stay at home on his own. When his owners are about to leave – he sits on their lap, starts to cuddle and it’s very, very hard to stop it and just go. But then he also leaves for a walk sometimes. He was familiar with a harness when he stayed with us so now it wasn’t hard to get use to a leash.

Neo loves to play – feathers, hair ties, mice but also spinner, furminator brush etc. – all can be his toy.

Now, at his new home, he also has a special tunnel with balls in it. He could play with the same one when he lived with us. Probably he got to know it too well as he can put his paws in a way that he will always touch the ball. Well – check out on your own:

Nutella got to her new home in Straszyn where she lives with Lucyna and her family. At first she needed some time to get use to a dog – female Zula. From what I’ve heard lately – the girls became really good friends and they even sleep together.

From the very beginning Nutella got fond of Marta – Lucynas’ daughter. Even one of her favourite spots is a drawer of the girls desk. With this kind of company it will be easier to sit by the desk to learn and do homework.

Nutella spends most of the time in Marta’s room and it was also a place where her big cat tree got situated.

Nutella is very attached to all the family members. She is also a great cuddler – whenever she can she gets on someones’ lap. But when they are gone – she misses Marta the most. She tells her that everytime the girls comes back home, welcomed by Nutella. Beside all that she also gets more beautifull with every day 🙂

New home for Ophelia just couldn’t wait to welcome her. Even before she was ready to leave the cattery, new home was prepared for her. Owners put special shelfs so she can use it as stairs on the wall and got her a scratching tree.

Ophelia left us for a city named Zelgoszcz. Apart from Krzysztof and Grażyna she also has company of their little son – Ludwiś also a guinea pig named Krystyna and a some fishes in a watertank.

Ophelia needed some time to get used to a little child but since she got used to him – she doesn’t leave his side and keeps him company during naps. They sometimes play with the same toys… or for example with a stolen plastic bag.

She sometimes tries to be friends with Krystyna. So far that she even visits her cage. With fishes she just helps with cleaning the water tank. Other living creatures at home also catch her attention. Like when she cannot fall asleep because of a flying fly somewhere in the room…

Another one to leave us was Olenka. Mrs Klaudyna from Wrocław was really waiting for her. Since the very beginning after changing homes, she didn’t leave her new “mom” even for a second. It was easy to see in the first photos, taken after she left us, where she just coudn’t go without cuddling and naps together. She reminds me of me and Whisper when I still studied in Olsztyn and there was only the two of us.

When she was still with us, Olenka had her favourite furry balls she love to play with and even fetch. It was nice to see she still has this habit and now at her new home she keeps on bringing the toys to Klaudyna.

Olenka has to always be where he „mom” is. Even during cooking and work in the kitchen she has to be able to observe everything from her spot in the hall. And in the batch room, if she could, she would probably stay on the shower curtain to be able to keep an eye on everything.

Olenka had used harness when she still lived with us, soi t was easy to teach her to go out on a leash. Not only she didn’t have any problems to learn ut, but she seems to really like it. Sometimes she even prefers to go outside and discover new smells and places instead of staying at home. And I don’t blame her – we also like trips and new discoveries 🙂

Orpheus left us with the end of July but he didn’t go far. His new family lives in Bydgoszcz. And so Orpheus got to be a part a family that includes also Asia, Szymon and their little son Staś. New home ment also a new name for him and now he is called Lee.

I thought he will need some time to get familiar with the little boy as he didn’t have much contact with children and their “enthusiasm” while living with us. But the very next day after he left us I got photos that proved me otherwise. The boy and Lee became friends at once. They play and have adventures at home together.

As I learned lately – now Lee doesn’t leave Staś alone at all. They play together, draw together on the floor. But there are moments when Orpheus – Lee doesn’t want to play or cuddle. Staś is still learning to respect that and not to poke him. Lee is very patient and brave to endure all this and only sometimes he let’s the boy know when it’s enough. But when the moment passes, he comes to keep Staś company again and spend time with him anyway.

Lee is not afraid of any guests at all. He even has few favourite ones that he welcomes in a specific way. He is also very fond of Szymon when he comes back home. Lee comes to him at once and demands to be taken up and carried (almost as his dad Cody). During night he sleeps at the bottom of the bed. When Staś comes in the morning to join, they sleep together with Lee who cuddles with the boy.

The same day Orpheus said „Goodbye” we also let Newton leave for his new home. He stayed with us a bit longer than his siblings. All because of a little accident he had few weeks before. Sunday morning, when we were still asleep, the kittens decided to observe something from the window sill. But they got so wild that they had thrown down a bowl with shells in the bathroom. So unfortunately that it landed on Newtons’ foot. It all made us realize we really need a special cat room for growing kittens, where they can stay safe for the night when we cannot supervise them. Because things that don’t happen with our Big Five cats may take place when there is eleven cats running around.

In all this situation, luckily the glass bowl didn’t brake but unfortunately as an X-ray showed – Newton ended up with a broken toe. So first we treated it and after another consult with orthopedist we waited until it was all healed before we let Newton go. From one side I felt sorry for our little boy, but on the other I was a bit happy that he will be with me for a bit longer. When everything was all ok, Newton lefto for his new family in Straszyn. If right now you’re wondering where have you heard that name before, I rush to explain. Nutella also went to live in that city and what’s more, it turned out the owners of both cats know each other a bit!

Newton got to a home where already was one thai cat – Kayla Amelia*PL. I’ve heard about her before, because her owners contacted me few months earlier for a consult. And later it also turned out they needed another cat and this cat was our Newton.

Newton was very positive towards Kayla from the beginning but she, as the older, needed some time to accept him at her home. Luckily, against their owners worries, it took only three days for them to get along and start sleeping together.

Newton’s character and positive attitude met all the expectations his owners had. He’s such a cuddler! I think sometimes it’s after his dad Cody, but I know sometimes he’s even more than that. Even when it comes to watching TV he still need to sleep with someone or rather on someone.

The entire family is in love with Newton, even Kayla prefers his company to anyone else. But it’s not a surprise at all as they look together great and Newton – he is irresistible.
