Cody Fancy Diamonds*CZ

Since we started cattery Viosna*PL we were aware that in a certain moment we will have to get our own male cat. But we didn’t feel pressure to hurry. “Haste makes waste”, good things are worth waiting for and some decisions need to be well considered. Cattery could go on thanks to other breeders and their wonderful studs. Because of that cooperation we didn’t have to think about our own “cat boy” yet. We had time to first learn some about cats evaluation considering their predispositions for breeding (among others – their look, attitude). We had the opportunity to raise kittens from different fathers and – thanks to owners staying in touch -watch how they would grow up. We’ve learnt that there is no such thing as 100% perfect cat (well maybe in 99% there is 😛 ). We managed to choose two beautiful and lovely queens to stay in the cattery – Elmirka and Helen. Both girls are doing pretty well on shows according to all their titles and nominations. With Elma it’s also her kittens who grow up to be beautiful, caring and patient cats. Although we don’t think of ourselves as experts in cat evaluation, there is many more experienced breeders and judges to do so. For us – as always in life – there is still much more to learn about that.

But the time has come and we decided to enlarge our cat family of another member. Especially that we increased space for cats at home. We’ve been looking for a proper “candidate” for father of our future litters much more earlier. It wasn’t easy because our breeding plan has some assumptions that sometimes limited our choices. We care among others that there is some “blood of the old thai cats” in his veins. Literally speaking – that he has some ancestry, coming directly from Thailand, in his pedigree. And what goes with it – brought some new genes into European pool And of course that he is handsome, gentle and purring little cuddler 😉

After many months of research and analysis we managed to find that kind of cat. It turned out he was not so far away after all. Only 700 km far from us.

Czech Cattery Fancy Diamons*Cz – runned by Jana and Petr – had a litter C born in May. Parents of the kittens are Fayniy FRAYER Royal Symphony coming from Ukraine and ABIGAIL Fancy Thai, whose mom comes from Thailand. From litter of 5 kittens – 4 boys and a girl – we chose a male for our cattery. It is  Cody Fancy Diamonds*CZ.

We decided to go for the little one and drive him to Poland ourselves to decrease stress that goes along with traveling. We wanted our new kitten first long trip to be as comfortable as it can get in a car (and what we suspect none of animal transport company can provide). Also we assume that common experiences strengthen the bonds and we wanted Cody to get to know us as soon as possible so he can feel with us more “at home”.

Thanks to Jana and Petr and also probably to their little daugther Lily – cats from their cattery are not only pretty and cuddling but also very well socialized. Jana’s and Petr’s work with raising the kittens made our trip back to Bydgoszcz (700 km) just another long nap for Cody. What’s more – a nap with cuddling and purring. Of course he woke up few times and when we stopped he checked out the car – but not even for a second he showed fear or was upset. We reached home in the middle of the night but that also wasn’t a problem for Cody.  Well you can see for yourselves how was our trip on the photos below.

At home Cody fairly quickly acclimatized and started making friends with other cats – this had to by step by step due to a quarantine. We were a little worried about our girls reaction and how they will receive him – especially that Helen is pregnant. We didn’t really worry about Dziabąg and according to our suspections – he was the first one to make friends with a new family member. After that it all went well – bit by bit Cody, Whisper, Elmirka and Helen decreased the distance between them. Little one is here not so long but he plays, eats and sleeps with others without any problems. He also overcame fear of bunnies – Pola and Marcel, which turned into curiosity after less than a day. Last Saturday we’ve taken all the gang to the garden (which was also new for Cody), so they can use some sun and straighten their relations by playing all together. Elmirka and Cody were very interested in chasing bunnies. It was all going so well that even Rudi decided to join. And all that in relatively short time.

Before we decided to get Cody as our first stud, we analyzed his pedigree and pedigrees of our girls. Thanks to photos send by Jana we could also check his appearance, which is really challenging to evaluate in little kittens. Cattery where he comes from is of course free from FIV and FeLV. He also was tested for PRA with negative result. Thanks to that we can be sure that our future kittens won’t suffer from Progressive Retinal Atrophy.

.

Except for a unique ancestry, Cody has other values.

From what can be seen in these photos:

  • has good contrast in color,
  • nicely wide set eyes,
  • proportional body,
  • long, straight tail,
  • something we particularly like – little ear-tufts on the top of rounded ears.

From what cannot be seen in photos:

  • has very delicate and soft fur,
  • purrs when he is pet (when we stop petting = he stops purring),
  • is a real powerhouse,
  • fetches toys so you can throw it away time and time again,
  • easy-going and friendly to other animals, adapts to new situations really fast,
  • he’s a talker,
  • he can fall asleep in ANY position (although that can be seen on the photos above)

We present to you our Cody Fancy Diamonds*CZ.
