Visiting Joker

Last Sunday we were in Swarzędz, so we just couldn’t take the opportunity to visit Joker 🙂 We’ve heard so much about him and saw so many photos (Joker has his own profile on fb – Joker Viosna.PL), that we just had to go and check him out 😉

As we walked we thought that he must recognise us – first he stared at us a bit desorientated and smelled our faces very precisely afterwards. All as he was remind himself where he knows us from 😉 He later repeated smelling Tomek with special attention to his beard 😉

We broght some feather toy as usual – the favourite toy of all our kittens. But it turned out that Joker has so many toys that it didn’t impressed him much. At first he looked haughtily at us – just like he wanted to say it was nothing. But in the end he tried to play with it for a short while – or maybe he was just beeing polite.

Luckily it turned out he still fancy dried meat snacks so we had something to interest him with. We also learned that he has few “cat drawers” with only his stuff – toys, snacks etc.

At his home, Joker not only has lots of toys, tunnels and beds. His family also made an effort to meet all his needs. Need to climb – in one room there is a cat tree from the floor to the ceiling. Now when Joker has grown up the top shelf will be replaced with a larger one (it’s great that it is possible with scratching posts made by the Rogacki family to expand the cat tree or exchange elements). Another of his satisfied needs is a need to view things from the top and walk high above the floor. As You know – thai cats like higher spots. At Jokers homes there are special shelf on the walls that make cat path that allows him to get on some furniture or cat tree.

Joker’s family also takes care for his condition – everyday exercises include among others: toy chase that requires climbing and jumping. There are already favourite route around the appartment, for example from floor to the shelf then on the wardrobe and the windowsill. We managed to catch one of those on the camera. You can even notice that this hunt was successful – Joker has his prey in his mouth.

When it’s warm outside, Joker can spend time on secured balcony, where he has his special shelfs and viewing points. He often observes birds. Sometimes it’s so many of them, that he doesn’t know where to look 😉

Apart from the balcony, his family took care of his safety in many other ways. All the wires are secured so he doesn’t get a chance to chew them. But he really isn’t interested in that at all. He was also taught not to walk on kitchen worktop where the stove is. In the kitchen he has his special place by the window, where he can stay and watch meal preparations or stare at the world outside.

During our visit Joker has played a lot – together with his family he showed up his everyday activity, playing spots toy hunts and chasing dangler pole toys. And after such excercises and some snacks he had to clean up 🙂

At the end of our visit Joker was really tired 🙂

Thanks to the possibility of visits, not only we spend great time with owner and our kittens. We also get tha chance to see how the little ones develop – with their appearance and characters. Sometimes some features drom parents may be not noticable in a kitten but became very clear in adult cats.

Joker has a very goon head shape, well marked contrast and proportional body. After his mom – Elma he inheritet not only nice rounded face but also talent for stupid faces 😀

These observations help us with our breeding work, with making decisions for example regarding future matings.
