St. Nicholas’ Cat Show in Warsaw 2015

St. Nicholas Day and weekend we spent on another Cat Show in Warsaw. Considering the event our cage was decorated and we had some holiday details. I even managed to convince Tomek to dress up (at least for the photo 😉 ).

Elmirka, Helenka and Julian were getting in the holiday mood for at least a week as they were wearing their collars and costumes. Julek & Elma were looking very elegant in their red collars with scarf and Hela was our little Elf. Even judge Antonello Bardella was impressed with Elma and her collar, as he saw it during WCF Ring. But occasional outfit wasn’t really stressful for our cats and they spent most of the time sleeping as usual. (Maybe because we were on the road the whole night before the show, so they didn’t get much sleep.)

Helenka had been sitting with me for a while and admiring this entire noise around. But after a while she seemed bored and she didn’t look interested too much.

On Saturday Elmirka was evaluated by judge Kamil Kolczynski. This time, same as on last Cat Show, she turned out to be a model thai cat to present and explain this breed to the judge pupil.

She was very polite and patient during all this presentation. She allow to check, see and feel everything both to the judge and his pupil. This day Elmirka received excellent note in International Champion class. Judge also nominated her for Best In Show!

Helenka & Julian got to be seen by the same judge – Mrs Donatella Luconi. Hela was a bit nervous while evaluation but she behaved nicely and made no problems with being checked. Judge admited her EX1 – excellent note. That made the last one for her Champion title. On Sunday she could be evaluated for higher class.

Julian turned out to be calm as always not only during the Show, w but also while being judged. Mrs Donatella liked Julian so much that she decided to nominate him for Best In Show for kittens. Julian also received his first personal note (last time in October he was in litter class along with his brothers). His note was “excellent” in Open Class for kittens of age 3-6 months.

Julek was very patient also while waiting for Best In Show. Cats are brought all at once to the cages and await comparison there. Thai cats are in category IV so Julian was presented last. But he didn’t look like he had problem with that ;).

Cats for Best In Show are presented by stewards and even that disn’t impress our Julian. His inner peace and good looking granted him Best In Show trophy that was gladly admitted by the judges. Julek also received pretty blue blanket along with a bowl and little mouse toy.

Elmirka in Best In Show had a copetition of two other tonkiese females in category IV. But almost all judges chose Elma with number 158 for the final comparison.  She was very polite and patient during all presentations. In the end our Elmirka was fourth at the entire show and was titled Best Of Best IV. Except for the trophy she also won beautifull blue cat booth with silver motives.

On Saturday we were getting back to the hotel not only with all the notes we hoped for our cats in their classes but also with show titles, trophys and awards for them.

 

On Sunday cats decided to finish yesterday naps – especially  Julian. Later they even got interested with  what was going on around.

This time Elmirka was judged by Mr Antonello Bardella. She allowed him to check, pet her and they even had a little chat. What they talked about? Only they know 😉 Elma received another – third and last needed – note for Grand International Champion. She also got nominated for Best In Show once again!

Helenka & Julian were both judged by the same judge –  Mr Kamil Kolczyński who checked Elmirka day before. While evaluation we found out that Helen and Julian have, so called, “roman nose”.  It turns out this occurs not only in people.

But roman nose is not an odd (sometimes it is even wanted in cats), to receive excellent note in particular class. Helenka got another EX1 – first for  International Champion.

Judge liked Julian so much that except excellent note in kitten class, he admited him another nomination for Best In Show. Waiting for his presentation was not stressfull at all also this time.

On Sunday Julek was as beautifull as the day before and like yesterday we were going back home with another trophy!

Elmirka while BIS had a bit more difficult task than on Satutday. First she was compared with another female from category IV. Again Elma was the judges first choice. Then she stood agains her own father (!), who has won with two other males to get there. This time judges couldn’t decide and it was a tie. When this happens on a cat show, sometimes you have to let faith decide. This time they wrote judges names on separate piece of paper and drawed name of the judge who had to decide who the winner is. And it was Mrs Donatella Luconi to decide and she voted for our Elma!

In the finals Elma was fourth on the entire show and once again gained title of Best Of Best IV. To trophy collection we added one more and Elma won another cat booth – this time it was chocolate colour.

We were getting back home very tired but also satisfied and very proud with our cats. They all received excellent notes (EX1) in their classes. In general competiton they also managed wonderfull and were admitted Best In Show & Best Of Best. It is a great distinction as there were over 160 cats!

*The only disapointing thing at the show was our camera 🙁
