Visiting Dayla in Germany
Last weekend of November 2015 we went to Germany to spend some time with my family in Lubeck. We also had a chance to see Dayla who lives with my cousin and turned 3 years old in September. She has grown up to be a real beauty. She has proportional and slim body and even neutering didn’t add her any excess weight. (Neutering or spaying doesn’t lead to overweight if owners don’t overfeed their cats 😉 ). Dayla is in very good condition, she has glossy fur and very nice colour of points and perfect contrast.

Dayla isn’t the only pet around. She has a “stepsisters” – Ghia – birman cat, and Bluna (female german shephard).

Ghia is the calm, plushy one, who likes to massage others with her paws when she has time. But all that doesn’t mean that she is only nice cuddly cat. Ghia is very warrantable girl who loves to play if only Dayla lets her and doesn’t steal all the attention 😉 .

Dayla is a pretty, talkative and spontaneus female. She even has a nickname – Kliener Teufel – which means Little Devil. All because she is a little scamp. If you show her something stupid that she can do (ex. get on top of the wardrobe), you can be almost sure that she will do it. Especially if food is her motivation. But this also makes her very smart and fast learning. With this kind of cats when you can get them to focus you can turn their potential into something good. They just need some interesting and absorbing exercise. Both Dayla and Ghia are trained with clicker technique and they can do “target” or jump for ex. over Bluna or through the hoop. We could see that ourselves when we visited them before in April 2014.

Both Dayla & Ghia are gourmands. (Dayla more 😉 ). Both girls soon learnt to get some snacks on their own. They can be so determined that special blockade was needed for their snack cupboard in the kitchen, because they figured out how to open it. These two females are very smart when it comes to food, so cat food storage place should be well thought out and difficult to access (for a cat). Dayla and Ghia are also very good hunters and they managed to catch mouse or fieldmouse many times. They bring all their capture home to my cousin, who can only feel sorry for her cats prey…
Dayla, even thought she is very sociable, talkative and likes to play with people, is not the kind of really cuddling cat. Held on hand she starts to grumble, “but she does not want” and tries to wriggle out of hugs. The only exception is when she keeps getting cat treats while she is held. Then you can hold, cuddle and stroke her for as long as it takes to bite a cat snack or other crunchy delicacy;)

Dayla loves all the fun and games. As soon as she sees that someone is holding toy feathers, she immediately begs for attention. She also likes to retrieve tossed toy. During our stay she brought it to me to bed or to my chair many times. You could say that Dayla very quickly gets convinced to someone if the person plays with her. Knowing that we brought some toys for both cats when we arrived. Dayla and Ghia liked the special cat cushions with tassels. These particular toys that we got for them as a gift, were filled with catnip and valerian. The girls immediately began to play with them. Although I have not seen a cat that would be completely indifferent to such things 😉 .
When it came to say Good bye, we found it hard to leave not only because of the (human) family. Saying Good bye to the cats took us some time. Luckily we can visit them any time. So Dayla can wake us up again with her meowing in the morning when she wants to play her toy feathers in our bed in the morning.
